Create a short film (two minutes, thirty seconds) about a South Carolina state park.  The entry must follow the theme Come Out & Play, have a shot of a SC State Park sign, and one scene must be at a SC State Park.  Be creative.  Tell a story!  Winning entries get screened at film programs across the street, and winners get cash prizes.  For details, see the South Carolina Young Filmmaker’s Project webpage.

Ninth Grade Outreach

Susan Myers visited Donovan Brooks’s English classes on Monday, October 25th.  She talked about challenged and banned books, explained the difference between challenged and banned, shared statistics, and went over a recent ban in South Carolina.  Students were very engaged and enjoyed talking about the shades of grey that occur with allowing access to literature.
