The Piedmont Interstate Fair will be held this year on October 8-14. Our theme for this event is “We Have A Good Thing Growing”. We have many opportunities for every student in our area to participate in their county fair. The 2012 Premium Book with the traditional exhibit divisions, including Art, along with details and entry forms for all contests and events may be found on our website at www.piedmontinterstatefair.com. A Premium Book will also be mailed to each school. Additional Premium Books may be picked up at any branch of the Spartanburg County Library or the Fair Office. I have also attached entry forms for the student contests that may be reproduced as needed.
Scarecrow Contest – Open to all schools by class, clubs, or other groups in which they construct a life size scarecrow from all recyclable materials. Winners will receive money for their school and prizes for their group. Winners will be announced on Monday of Fair Week. Sponsored by Bojangles, Spartan Photo Center, BB&T – CIC Insurance and the Piedmont Interstate Fair.
Greatest Grandparent Essay Contest – An essay writing contest open to all students, ages 7 through 18 years of age, in which they can nominate one of their grandparents to be named the 2012 Piedmont Interstate Fair Greatest Grandparent of the Year. Deadline for essay entries is September 26. Teachers are encouraged to use this as an extra credit activity; however, any individual child may enter on his/her own. Winning grandparents receive flat screen, color televisions; runner up grandparents receive a very nice gift package; and winning students also receive gift bags filled with prizes including a free Mega Pass. Winners announced and prizes awarded on Tuesday evening at 6:15 pm. Sponsored by Piedmont Interstate Fair.
Bowling Buddies Contest – New contest for this year – Open to all ages in which they decorate a bowling pin (free to all who wish to participate) as any person, profession, celebrity, sports figure, etc. All entries will be received on Saturday, October 6, or Sunday, October 7. Entries will be judged by age groups and winners announced on Monday of Fair Week. All individual winners receive cash prizes. The bowling pins may be picked up at the Fair, Monday thru Friday, 8:30 am till 2:00 pm. If a class needs several bowling pins, we will attempt to bring those to you. Sponsored by Star Lanes Bowling and the Piedmont Interstate Fair.
